Which type of domain to choose?

Domains are different by their extension, which represents their identification code. The three most popular types of Top Level domains (TLDs), that are completely independent from state you are living in, are:

.COM - shortcut for .commercial. This domain is the most popular type of domains. It is available to individuals and also to organizations.

.NET - shortcut for .network. It was originally meant for "technical" web sites. However, it is available to anyone who wants this type of extension for his "Internet name".

.ORG - shortcut for .organization. It is primarily meant for nonprofit organizations, but it is also available to the others who want to have this type of domain.

Alternative domain names

The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), the organization responsible to administrate Top Level domains all over the world, approved usage of many other extensions for domains:
.areo .biz .info .museum .name .pro .tv .cc ...

More information you can find at the official web site of ICANN organization: www.icann.org/tlds/

Domain name

The first step that you "have" to make to be on the internet is to register a domain.
A domain (domain name) is the unique name that identifies a website. It is translated using DNS-a (Domain Name System) into unique numerical code (IP address) that identifies a certain computer (or other unit) connected on the internet.
When someone types in browser a name of domain you registered, computer translates it into numerical address and than URL starts with locating your website on the web.
For example, when you type in your browser www.google.com a computer translates it into IP address 64.233.183.104 and takes you directly to a computer where google's website is.

Over 30 000 domains are being registered daily which make it hard to find a good domain that is not yet been taken.

The sooner you reserve yours, you'll have more chances to get one that is memorable.

What can I do if the domain I want is already taken?

If the domain is already taken, there is absolutely nothing you can do. The only thing you can do is to find something else that is available.
We offer you a few suggestions to find the next best solution.
You can try with other extension (.net .org .us .info .biz).
Rearrange the words or try with shortcuts.
Put the line between the words.

Names and restrictions

What are the limitations when choosing a domain name? The domain can have maximum 67 characters including the extension (.com .net .org .info .biz). The name can have numbers (0-9), letters (A-Z) and lines (-). The name can't start or end with the line (-), and it can't have these characters: !@#$%&?~:_.
